2016 Youth/Teen Dance Days

Youth and Teen Dance Days take advantage of all the great artists who are in Guelph for our Festival. This wonderful training opportunity includes workshops, discussions, and performances.

Youth Dance Day and Teen Dance Day – June 3 and June 4, 2016

Youth Dance Day (born 2002-2005) – capacity 25 (dancers should have at least 2 years of dance experience)
Friday, June 3
COST: $32; add Ice Dance Workshop with Le Patin Libre on Saturday morning, 9:30 – $42
Register for Youth Dance Day through the River Run Centre

A day of great dancing experiences for the youth dancer! Learn repertory from Aeriosa and perform alongside these professional dancers at our In the Park performance! Since you’ll be performing, please bring the following as a costume: stretchy red and/or black tops and bottoms without words or large images (logos can be covered with black tape).

“Please ask participants to bring stretchy pieces, red and or black tops and bottoms sleek is better than frilly or fussy. Please no images or text. Logos we can cover with black tape.”

11:45 – drop off at Hanlon Creek Park (in the event of inclement weather, we will meet at River Run Centre)
12-3 pm – residency rehearsal with Aeriosa
3-3:15 – break
3:15-4 – tech rehearsal
4-5 pm – dinner break (bring something to eat!)
5-5:30 – pre-show call
5:30-6:30 – In the Park performance at Hanlon Creek Park
8 pm – On the Stage A: Le Patin Libre at the University of Guelph Gold Ice Rink, followed by ice dance party *

* please note: transportation is not provided from Hanlon Creek Park to the University ice rink, nor will supervision be provided at the Le Patin Libre performance. It is strongly recommended that Youth Dance Day participants have adult supervision for the 8 pm show and after party. Ice skates will be available, but we recommend bringing your own if you have them. We also strongly recommend bringing your own helmet.

Teen Dance Day (born 1998-2001) – capacity 25 (dancers should have at least 2 years of dance experience)
Saturday, June 4
COST: $45; add Stage A and Stage B performances: $55
Register for Teen Dance Day through the River Run Centre

Workshops, performances, and discussions for the teen dancer.

9:15 – arrive at University of Guelph Gold Ice Rink
9:30-10:45 – Ice Dance Workshop with Le Patin Libre *
10:45-12 noon – Take city busy (with supervision) to Exhibition Park for lunch
12:00-1:00 – In the Park Performance
1:00-1:30 pm – walk to Guelph Youth Studios, 42 Quebec Street
1:30-2:30 – contemporary technique workshop with Suzanne Miller, accompanied by Allan Paivio
2:30-3:00 – panel discussion with Suzanne Miller and Heather Finn, physiotherapist
3:00 – pick up at Guelph Youth Studios, 42 Quebec Street

* Ice skates will be available, but we recommend bringing your own if you have them. We also strongly recommend bringing your own helmet.
